Smart & AMR meters

Smart meters eliminate manual readings, ensuring accurate bills and simplifying supplier changes, empowering you to better manage your energy use and costs.

Switching to a smarter life is simple

As part of the UK Government’s commitment to reducing energy use and meeting carbon-reduction targets, energy suppliers are required to make all reasonable efforts to install Smart meters or Advanced Meter Reading (AMR) equipment in all businesses and homes by 2025.

We are excited about the benefits this transition will bring to our customers. It means an end to manual meter reading and estimated bills. Meter readings will be transmitted automatically to your supplier, ensuring bills are always based on actual consumption. This also simplifies the process of switching suppliers.

The latest generation of Smart meters (SMETS2) can communicate with all suppliers, so there will be no interruption to your remote meter readings if you change supplier. If you have a SMETS1 Meter currently at your site, we will attempt to connect to it upon change of supply. If this is not possible, we will upgrade it to SMETS2.

Smart and AMR meters allow you to see exactly how much energy your business is using, enabling more accurate bills and supporting your energy-efficiency efforts to reduce your energy bills.

To find out if you are eligible and which meter is right for you, please continue reading the information below and complete one of our online forms.

ENGIE and its Smart metering agents follow the requirements of the Consolidated Metering Code of Practice (CoMCoP). The CoMCoP is part of the Retail Energy Code and sets out standards for the installation of Smart meters. It can be found on the Retail Energy Code website.
