Ethics and Responsible Business
Our ethics code of conduct outlines the principles that we follow
Ethics and Responsible BusinessAt ENGIE, health and safety is a top priority and is embedded into every aspect of our operations. Protecting the lives of all those who work for us is at the heart of what we do as a socially responsible company.
We are fully committed to protecting the safety and occupational health of our employees, contractors, site visitors, and neighbours in the wider community. To achieve this, we actively promote a positive safety culture across our sites, which encompasses both permanent staff and personnel from contractor companies.
Our prevention actions are structured across 3 areas:
No life at risk. Mitigation of risks related to the direct performance of activities, prevention of accidents at work
No mind at risk. Improvement of well-being at work, vigilance, control of mental health risks
No asset at risk. Mitigation of the risks related to ENGIE’s industrial activities
Everyone looks out for each other’s safety. Our team is empowered to alert colleagues to any unsafe conditions. They know how to react and intervene when necessary to protect the safety and wellbeing of others.
Encouraging transparent reporting of incidents with high-potential severity to improve safety protocols.
Onsite evaluations to address evolving conditions and ensure preparedness.
The “Stop the Work” policy at ENGIE empowers employees and contractors to halt work immediately if they encounter any unsafe conditions or behaviours that could lead to accidents or injuries.
At our anaerobic digestion sites, we’re working every day with methane-rich biogas to create sustainable energy.
It’s potentially dangerous work, so we’re hyper vigilant to the potential risks involved. No task is carried out without a full risk assessment and method statement.
We also carry out regular assessments of our sites to make sure we comply with Health & Safety Executive guidance and regulations, including:
We are dedicated to training each of our employees in the highest health and safety standards and compliance on site, including a tailored ‘One Safety Culture Programme’, revolving around five safety values:
