CSR Days are back at ENGIE
CSR days have long been a part of the company ethos at ENGIE, with employees completing 2 days volunteering at a local charity per year. Sadly, during the pandemic, CSR days were put on hold for safety reasons. But now they’re back, and we are really excited to get involved once again! Two such days have been run recently by our teams in the Leeds office, volunteering at two sites across the local Leeds area in order to give something back to the local communities and causes, with more to come.
The Pricing team volunteered at St Anthony’s primary school in Beeston, Leeds. Throughout the day they took on a variety of tasks to help improve the primary schools outside recreational areas. This included working in the garden; weeding, planting cutting overgrown trees and bushes. The team also put their painting skills to the test painting new borders and a bench.
Mary Eley, Senior Pricing Analyst, “After the school council at St Anthony's Primary raised that the school grounds were looking a little sad and unloved, the Head reached out to ENGIE for some support.
A team of 7 visited for a day in June and transformed an area adjacent to the playground. Trees were cut back, weeds removed, bark laid and flowers planted. Many children came and thanked us personally for making their playground beautiful again. It was a great opportunity to give back to the community and see the pleasure on the children's faces.”
The Commercial team also got involved in a CSR day, volunteering at The Donkey Sanctuary in Eccup, Leeds. The team focused on the rockeries that surround the sanctuary, weeding and clearing them out ready for when the sanctuary opens its doors to visitors. The team did such a great job that they even had enough time to see the 18 resident donkeys
Amy Waite, Product Development & Strategy Manager, “CSR days are a brilliant opportunity to step away from the computer and make an impact in the local community.
It’s one of the great benefits of working for ENGIE. It gives us the platform to make a difference which we wouldn’t have the chance to do without them, and we get to do this twice a year!
I had the pleasure of spending my first (ever) CSR day out with the team supporting the Donkey Sanctuary. Helping out around the grounds, I got to learn more about my colleagues and of course the donkeys too.”
At ENGIE CSR days are important to us as we look to make a difference, giving time to causes which are important to our staff. So keep your eyes open in the coming months as we look to participate in more CSR days!
