Our sites

ENGIE is actively involved in several biomethane development projects aimed at promoting sustainable energy solutions. Our projects focus on converting organic waste into renewable energy through anaerobic digestion, which produces biogas that can be used for electricity, thermal energy, or upgraded to biomethane.

Our projects

Nottingham Lane

We are planning a new facility on an area of land within Vale View Farm to the west of Nottingham Lane about equal distance between Station Road and Six Hills Lane.

Long Lane

This new facility sits on an area of land to the east of Long Lane and about 500m north of the A1079 – south of High Catton.

Milford Road

We are planning the facility on an area of land east of the A162, west of the Sherburn-in-Elmet railway line, north of the South Milford railway line and south of the existing AD.

Nottingham Lane

We are planning a new facility on an area of land within Vale View Farm to the west of Nottingham Lane about equal distance between Station Road and Six Hills Lane.

Supporting rural communities

We have a strong history of partnering with local farmers to reduce the carbon footprint of agriculture while supporting soil health. By taking crops for our biomethane plants already part of a crop rotation cycle and using digestate, an organic fertiliser byproduct of the AD process, we help replenish the soil, improve its quality, and boost crop production.

What is Anaerobic digestion?

Anaerobic digestion is a proven process that breaks down organic, biodegradable materials in a sealed tank without oxygen, using naturally occurring microorganisms and bacteria. During this process, the waste, also known as feedstock, produces biogas, which is captured and converted into renewable gas and electricity, offering a low-carbon alternative to natural gas.

If you farm locally and are interested in becoming a feedstock provider, please contact our team. We are looking for crops and agricultural wastes such as FYM, slurry and chicken litter.
